Earth Hour!
Queensland Government
MESSAGE FROM THE PREMIER OF QUEENSLAND
Tackling climate change is an issue that all Queenslanders – indeed all Australians - can be a part of.
Climate change poses a serious threat to our environment and our way of life.
Earth Hour is an excellent opportunity to show we care for our Earth, not only for one hour, but every hour.
Making better choices on our energy usage means we can reduce our greenhouse gas emissions. Simple things like turning off a light or walking instead of driving, can make a big difference to climate change.
This Government is serious about responding to climate change. It is why we are a strong supporter of Earth Hour. We will be switching off lights and non-
essential power in our office buildings during the initiative.
We have also committed to playing our part in meeting the national target of a
60 per cent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions below 2000 levels by 2050.
Together we can make it clear that we care about the environment we live in. We can all play a part in moving towards a more sustainable future.
I hope you will all participate in Earth Hour and show your support.
